Things to Do Around North Scottsdale

If you're searching for something new to experience in North Scottsdale Arizona, hopefully you live in or near the Terravita community. Terravita residents have the exciting privilege of living in North Scottsdale, which is an area filled with countless events, entertainment, and things to do. With so much going on, it can be difficult to know where to start. To make it easier for you, here are some of our top recommendations:

The Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show
Scottsdale is home to many of the Arabian industry's most prestigious farms and training facilities. Horse buyers travel from all corners of the globe to purchase horses here. The Arabian horse is known for being an impressive distance rider, with the best completing 100-mile races in less than 10 hours. With such beauty and athleticism, Arabian horses always put on a great show. The Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is held annually at Westworld in Scottsdale and has set the pace in the Arabian horse world since 1955. It has grown from 50 horses to nearly 2,000 horses--bringing the best owners, trainers and breeders from around the world to Scottsdale to compete for the coveted title of “Scottsdale Champion.” Buy your tickets early for the 61st Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in February 2016 before they sell out! As a prelude, you are invited to attend the Arabhorse Farm Tour - five exciting days of the Arabian horse industry festivals over an extended New Year’s weekend.

TPC Scottsdale
Home to the PGA TOUR’s renowned Waste Management Phoenix Open, TPC Scottsdale consists of two very prominent and pristine golf courses located in North Scottsdale. During the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the course’s renowned par-3, 16th hole transforms into “The Coliseum” --offering fans an exciting and unforgettable experience. When the PGA TOUR is not in session, golfers can test their own skills on the same challenging fairways as the professionals. Named “one of America’s best courses” by Golfweek Magazine, TPC Scottsdale is often referred to as one of the top courses in Arizona.

Scottsdale ArtWalk
Every Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 40-year tradition of Scottsdale ArtWalk takes place in downtown Scottsdale. With its unique statues and delightful charm, downtown Scottsdale is the perfect setting for the event. As you wander down Main Street and Marshall Way, you will come across various galleries and artist displays showcasing
exceptional pieces of art. On many occasions, you will even witness artist demonstrations, food samplings, and pleasant live music. If you don’t feel like walking, you can get a ride from the free Scottsdale Trolley or a horse-drawn carriage. And if you get hungry along the way, you can enjoy dinner at one of the nearby famed restaurants. Whether you’re with friends, family, or a date, this free event has something to offer for everyone.

Barrett Jackson Car Show
Car lovers in Scottsdale know that there’s no better place to be than Barrett Jackson Car Show, also know as “The World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions.” During the show, hundreds of the most valuable and sought-after automobiles are displayed in front of the audience. The diverse and impressive inventory would make any car lover feel as if they just stepped into Heaven. Barrett Jackson’s expert staff also has over 130 years of combined experience in the automotive field, which means you will likely leave the show with a wealth of knowledge. Every year, the auctions are held at the end of January at Westworld of Scottsdale. Early bird tickets are available until November 15th.

Hiking at Pinnacle Peak
If you enjoy being outdoors, North Scottsdale offers plenty of scenic hiking trails. Pinnacle Peak is especially enjoyable because you can get your exercise without feeling completely exhausted at the end. The trail is 3.7 miles long and, depending on whether you’re walking or jogging, can take anywhere from one to three hours to complete. Don’t be surprised if you see unique birds or lizards as you travel down the well-maintained trail. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Valley of the Sun. The trail is open from dawn to dusk, but try to show up early as parking is limited. For more great hiking trails in North Scottsdale, click here.
